Breath of Relief
03:38
|
|||
How come you taste like wine, I taste like bitter sweet candy
It happens all the time, I get a case of the cold feet
You say the water's fine, but I can't get myself to move
Until you push me in, and then I suddenly know it's
You know it feels so good, when you're standing right next to me
I never thought I could, avoid slipping into retreat
You know it feels so good, do do, do do do do
And now I probably should, take a breath of relief
How did you guess my game, I can't guess anything on you
Like what's your middle name, why it's so easy for you to move
Guess we're like night and day, teeter tottering back and forth
I hope it stays this way, we keep lighting each others
You know it feels so good, when you're standing right next to me
I never thought I could, avoid slipping into retreat
You know it feels so good, do do, do do do do
And now I probably should, take a breath of relief
But sometimes I keep
Slipping into retreat
You know it feels
And now I probably should
You’ve got to push all that back
You know it feels so good, when you're standing right next to me
I never thought I could, avoid slipping into retreat
You know it feels so good, do do, do do do do
And now I probably should, take a breath of
Relief

By Your Rules
04:50
|
|||
In the morning, if you love me, I’ll stay
In the evening, if you want me, I’ll play
By your rules, by your rules
Baby bird don’t sing, little crow don’t yell
All the guns have been emptied of their shotgun shells
So why don’t we all be real quiet instead
There’s a hundred miles left through these garden beds
‘Cause the seeds that were sown, the cover that was laid
It don’t take much to wash it all away
But we’ve gotten this far, so keep our heads down
And try to stay focused on our common ground
In the morning, if you love me, I’ll stay
In the evening, if you want me, I’ll play
By your rules, by your rules
Coyote don’t howl and moon don’t glow
The baskets have been emptied of all the arrows
So give your love away, give your love away
Always remember, no one cares what you paid
So I’ll lay down my guard, if you’ll relax your line
Let the sharpshooters go and have a good time
‘Cause the war was never worth it, never worth the loss
And there’s too many hills we’ve still gotta’ cross
In the morning, if you love me, I’ll stay
In the evening, if you want me, I’ll play
By your rules, by your rules

El Camino Real
03:38
|

Tactical operations, useless obligations, don’t speak to me like a little child
Practical information, useless isolation, it’s about to go completely wild
Chalk it up to the stars, or all the honking cars, I couldn’t understand exactly what you said
I’m taking it a little hard, ‘cause that’s my deck of cards, please be patient listening to my head
And for what? I don’t know
And for who? I ride alone
Ask again; what the
It’s not a car; it’s my truck
Formal salutation, common destinations, a bygone’s a bygone if it be so
Shotgun companion with wild abandon, in a short time, there’s a long way to go
It’s a bit obscene to use so much gasoline, for trash talking on the boulevard
And whether it is breed, or an ancient need, now you got us all raising our guard
And for what? I don’t know
And for who? I ride alone
Ask again; what the
It’s not a car; it’s my truck
And for what? I don’t know
And for who? I ride alone
Suspended animation, slight inebriation, crank the radio when we come up to the light
Roll down the window, blow out the mendo, everyone in the back’s gotta’ hold on tight
It’s a bit hard to hear this called a car, no es un camión, el destino
And I’ll take it like a man, ‘cause I can understand; it’s the one and only El Camino
And for what? I don’t know
And for who? I ride alone
Ask again; what the
It’s not a car; it’s my truck
And for what? I don’t know
And for who? I ride alone

Heavy Foggy Night
04:20
|
|||
The rumors had been steady for a couple days
S.U.V.’s are in the area, they’re already on their way
They smashed the chain from around the front gate and post
But, they found a house out back and three more down the hill
Everything was looking good, there was more to grow still
But they found no one, because they bailed out to the coast
Well, it might take some days, or it might only take a glimpse
Before you see all the choices, and one of them makes some sense
Do you grab the first ride outta’ town, or hang out for some more
For it’s a heavy foggy night, on a heavy foggy shore
Later on a call from the neighbor up the way
He said wherever you are, you might as well stay
Your season’s work was chopped and chipped this afternoon
But the money that’s been spent, the money that be lost
Doesn’t help the next decision, or the extra cost
You’re a palm tree and today is a typhoon
Well, it might take some days, or it might only take a glimpse
Before you see all the choices, and one of them makes some sense
Do you grab the first ride outta’ town, or hang out for some more
For it’s a heavy foggy night, on a heavy foggy shore
This is the price to pay for trying to play the game
It’s a roll of the dice, there ain’t no one to blame
Everyone around here’s running the exact same race
It was your turn this year, it might be theirs next
It’s just like Vegas baby and we’re all placing bets
And someone’s in the wings just waiting to take your place
Well, it might take some days, or it might only take a glimpse
Before you see all the choices, and one of them makes some sense
Do you grab the first ride outta’ town, or hang out for some more
For it’s a heavy foggy night, on a heavy foggy shore

How did I get this far on down the hole
You know, I bought a story that youth never gets old
Probably was the glitter, probably was the ritz
Well, too many shots and I got the whiskey spits
But this ain’t no stroll down that ol’ memory lane
‘Cause, I don’t like to
Walk, I’d rather run away
Rather run, rather run away
Take me to the river and give me bumps and bites
You know, I don’t wanna’ struggle, and I don’t want to fight
Let’s talk about nothing, nothing in particular
Let the hours slip away like unguarded prisoners
But this ain’t no stroll down that ol’ memory lane
‘Cause, I don’t like to
Walk, I’d rather run away
Rather run, rather run away
I’d rather run away
Ol’ memory lane
Stroll down, stroll down
Ol’ memory lane
Stroll down, stroll down
I’d rather run, I’d rather run, I’d rather run away
From ol’ memory
From ol’ memory
Lane
And take out all the batteries and unplug all the chords
Mark it down to nothing to a price I can afford
And throw away the social, and the constant checking in
And no one really cares, in case you’re wondering
This ain’t no stroll down that ol’ memory lane
‘Cause I don’t like to
Walk, I’d rather run away
I’d rather run, I’d rather run away
Rather run away

Bottleneck (Yet Another)
05:03
|
|||
Midnight never comes when systematic
Setbacks keep siphoning air from our lungs
And how do we sleep in a factory of
Constant demand for manufactured fun
And when you fake the history behind
Every heartache, it’s just a pickup line
When every little step, every little step
Is from an empty silhouette
So, how we gonna find our way
When every little step, every little step
Is yet another bottleneck
The old days always claim a peculiar amount of
Blood that is making its way in our veins
Back to our hearts, when we’re racing against the
Clock in a synthetic memory campaign
And when you build the story of your youth
The part that spills comes back as an ugly truth
When every little step, every little step
Is from an empty silhouette
So, how we gonna find our way
When every little step, every little step
Is yet another bottleneck
And days come and go
All that we borrow
Can leave us exposed
So
How we gonna find our way
How we gonna find our way when
Every little step, every little step
When the future is an empty silhouette

Roll 99 Continuation
03:58
|
|||
Rolling 99 is pulling at the reigns
Who’s gonna’ stop this mighty moving train
California’s last stop of the day
My, haven’t we come a long, long way
That’s how it is when you’re light as a feather
That’s how it’ll be when we all go down together
When the sky’s on fire, and we’ve seen it on the run
There’s no need to worry, the end has finally come
Like snow in the summertime, everything starts to shine
There’s rumors of storms and rumors of sun
Rumors of light and of midnight runs
Revolution is the flavor of the room
Everybody here is howling at the moon
That’s how it is when you’re light as a feather
That’s how it’ll be when we all go down together
When the sky’s on fire, and we’ve seen it on the run
There’s no need to worry, the end has finally come
Like snow in the summertime, everything starts to shine
When all that remains is only headlines, you know, everything starts to unwind
When the sky is on fire, and we’ve seen it on the run
You know, there’s no need to worry, the end has finally come
When the sky turns brighter, and there’s nowhere left to run
You know, there’s no need to worry, the end has finally come
When the world is on fire, a foretold outcome
There’s no need to worry mama, it’s just that big ol’ sun
